For toddlers with mature chewing and swallowing abilities, consider offering as part of baked goods or stirred into porridge or yogurt, making sure they are well-dispersed and not clumped together. Whole dried currants are still small and sticky, which poses a choking risk, especially if your child tends to stuff food or hasn’t mastered chewing thoroughly. Always supervise eating closely. As your child grows, continue to monitor their ability to safely eat dried fruits, and cut currants into smaller pieces if needed.
