Between 9 and 18 months, as your baby develops a pincer grasp and more advanced chewing skills, you can progress the texture of moose. Continue to slow-cook the meat until it's falling-apart tender. Instead of pureeing, you can finely shred the meat with two forks or mince it into very small pieces. These small, soft bits can be mixed into other foods. Avoid offering chunks, as they are a significant choking hazard. Always ensure your child is seated and supervised during feeding, and check that the meat is soft enough to be easily mashed on the roof of their mouth.

For toddlers 18 months and older who are proficient chewers, you can offer moose in small, manageable pieces. After slow-cooking the meat until it is exceptionally tender, cut it into bite-sized cubes, no larger than a half-inch (1 cm). Ensure there are no tough, stringy, or fatty parts. You can test the texture by easily squishing a piece between your thumb and forefinger. Even with proficient eaters, meat remains a choking risk. Always supervise your toddler closely during meals, ensure they are seated upright, and avoid distractions to encourage focused, safe chewing.
Serve about 1/4 cup (60 ml; 2 oz) of tender, bite-sized moose pieces as part of a balanced toddler meal. At this stage, you can incorporate it into family dishes like stews, mild chili, or shepherd's pie.
